An au where suguru never gone to the extreme emo phase and instead stayed with satoru, building their army for better future together. The two of them against the cruel world, but it’s okay since they’re together. Hands in hands, close to each other’s heart.

Until megumi.
Not a threadfic just idea dump where megumi wasn’t picked up by gojo either so their first meeting was when the zen’in brought their 10 shadows (heir?) to enroll at tokyo college, dont ask how and why, i’ll think about it someday lol
Suguru who’s in charge of the second years brought the kid, along with Mimi and Nana, who would start next year for a quick tour since Satoru was still on a meeting. He was polite and proper and a bit too serious, he wondered if he could bear with Satoru.
Satoru showed up midway, popping out of nowhere ready to take over.

“Nanako, Mimiko~ Remember me?” He greeted the two girls cheerfully, he met the girls a few times after Suguru saved them long, long time ago.

And the other kid, half frowning, “Fushiguro Megumi-kun, right?”
It was visible that the zen’in, or fushiguro kid, or whatever became Satoru’s favorite student almost immediately. He was a good student, excels in his practical and theoretical classes and all, possesses the prized inherited technique, and works effectively.
Suguru was almost sure Satoru was the one pulling some string leading to why the kid was going to the Tokyo school. His thing about nurturing talented youths. There are Megumi, Yuuta, Hakari, and also the new (bomb?) Sukuna Vessel.
Except Suguru started to notice Satoru spending a tiny bit too much time on Megumi. “Mm, so I’ll be helping him with the new shikigami,” he talked about Megumi quite a lot in private. “Okkotsu, Hakari, and Yuuji are my prized students,” and he talked about Megumi less in public.
Suguru didnt think Satoru himself noticed, because he saw how he blinked in genuine confusion when Suguru asked him about Megumi. “Him? Me? Really? Mm, I guess it’s because he’s a bit of a special pupil, what? You can’t be jealous right, Suguru?” Satoru grinned and kissed him.
Suguru thought he shouldn’t be this petty, getting envious of a fifteen year old because Satoru canceled on their (okay, it was just ramen) dinner because he had to go accompany his Megumi to his (first since he became a student) solo mission.
“Did you eat?”

“Mm, I did, ate some good teppanyaki.”

“With Ijichi?”

“Egh— why would I eat with Ijichi? I ate with Megumi of course, can’t let student go home hungry after a mission!”

No really, Suguru didnt wanna be that petty. But it was just the start of many other times.
“Where’s Gojo-sensei?” He asked Nanako who were with the three other first-years.

“With Fushiguro in the training hall, they should be back soon.”

At this point he was sure be wasn’t just being too much because really, the favoritism was starting to stick out like a sore thumb.
He saw and stayed quiet when Satoru chose to flung his arm over Megumi’s shoulder more that Yuuji’s. Or when he teased the boy and reduced him to a scowling mess (no, he kinda gets it, it was funny. He teased Fushiguro himself occasionally, not to the point of scowling though)
Or when Satoru spent more time in the training hall with the Zen’in heir more than the others. Or when he always looked for Megumi first.

“I wasn’t playing favorite! It’s just Megumi was the one asking for me to train him personally!” He spoke his name carefully. Tenderly. Fond.
Anyone wouldn’t notice but not Suguru. Because he knew that tone by heart, Satoru called his name the way he called Suguru at the spring of their youth, past his silly grins and coy touches.

But that can’t be right? Satoru was a grown adult. And he had Suguru.
“Mm, I know, you’re noisy,” he heard Megumi grumbling behind the wall, he was on phone, then his voice tilted soft, or at least softer, “I said I know. No, I don’t need it, mm, just come back early.” Suguru wondered if it was Yuuji or Nobara since they were on mission with Satoru
But before Suguru could go on his feet stopped at the way Megumi breathed, “I’ll see you soon, Gojo-sensei.”
Suguru confronted Satoru somewhere that week, “Aren’t you too close to Fushiguro-kun?”

“Seriously, this again?” Satoru scrunched his nose.

“I wouldn’t keep bringing it up unless I really need to. Even if you didn’t mean to, people might also get the wrong idea.” He groaned.
“You’re being immature Suguru, what could be there between me and Megumi? He’s just a student.”

“Really didn’t seem like it.”

“Fine! Maybe I play a bit favorites here! There, satisfied? It’s just because Megumi is a Zen’in and a ten shadows user, is it weird for me to get-
intrigued by the Zen’in’s inherited technique? You know how the Gojo and Zen’in never had good relationship anyway, it’s my only chance to observe such a rare gem. Megumi is just another talented gem like Yuuta or Hakari, Suguru. You’re being too much. Was I ever unfaithful?”
Satoru sighed at him, disappointed, upset, angry? His hand swatted around in annoyance. Suguru knew about the Gojo and Zen’in’s feud. He knew about how some previous Gojo with six eyes and limitless and Zen’in’s ten shadow once fought each other to death yada yada.
Or how the two opposing curse users were always birthed within the same generation, the balance of the universe, yada yada. He knew that. He knew that, maybe it’s just the way it is, it’s just that their powers naturally gravitate towards each other, attracting their own demise.
But that’s that. It was just how their universe worked. Nothing more. And Satoru had him, Satoru had loved him for a decade.

“You have no faith in me,” Satoru groaned.

So Suguru spent the evening apologizing to Satoru and trying to make it up to him.
Ah yes the gaslighting yum
After that night, Suguru really tried his best not to think negatively. But really, it’s hard when he knew Satoru phoned Megumi when one of them was out on mission, or their frequent private training sessions, or how Satoru started to show his protective sides toward the student.
He once (or twice) accompanied the kid when coming back to the Zen’in over some matters. He even personally meddle with Megumi’s mission allocations. If he was going to coddle on the kid, what’s the point of those private trainings and those prized technique bullshit.
Suguru honestly couldn’t wait until Megumi gets into the second grade. What’s so special with the Zen’in’s heir? What about him got Satoru wrapped around his little fingers? (Or the other way around? He has no idea, really)
“No more,” he heard the boy grunted from inside the training hall, no he wasn’t spying on them, he genuinely was just passing by before he stopped.

“Okay, let’s wrap up today’s training!” Satoru said.

“Ow!”
“Did i hit you too hard?”
“No, it’s okay. Ah, stop that.”
“Let me see,”
Suguru frowned.

“I’m not that weak, you know,” he could be wrong but there was a hint of coyness in his voice.

“I know, I know, Megumi, but I’m still worried.”

“Tsk. Treat me dinner if you’re really sorry.”

“Of course, anything my precious student want!”
Suguru didn’t even reply when Satoru texted him he’ll missed dinner because he needed to settle some paperworks with Ijichi. Hell.
And his bitterness grew, not only to Satoru but to the boy too.

The Zenin Ten Shadows user. The ten shadows user with soft black hair and pale skin. The ten shadows user with slender arms, slim waist, long neck, and much too flimsy ankles. The ten shadows user with pretty green.
“Geto-sensei, do you need anything,” he asked, head tilting to the side displaying his fair neck glistening with sweat, it’ll be so easy to break. (But what does Satoru think of it?) His cheeks rosy and lashes heavy, nauseating. (But what does Satoru feel when he sees him?)
