Art, journaling is a way of expressing emotions. Sometimes, we can have big emotions , such as anger , grief etc.
Art Journaling is a way to , express those emotions creatively. Through picture using , a variety of art materials, such as paint, crayon& #39;s, watercolour or even clay .
Sometimes, the medium of the art material, for example clay, being hard and needing, beating and moulding can be a , healthy way, to express what is commonly known as the, explosive or threatening emotion of anger.
Through the physical act of kneading the clay, it& #39;s possible for the emotion of Anger to be transferred , out of the body.
I have personally turned, emotions of grief in to a picture , a literal visual representation of what I was feeling. This picture had on a black , veil/ I used left over. or scrap textiles .A veil that would be commonly worn at a funeral.
I purposely selected black and blues, and had a lot of release, from using my thumbs and fingertips for mark making also. .This grief work was done at the end of a relationship, that had never served me, in that I had not become a better, person whilst in it but rather , the…
…self esteem I had worked on , to build & nourish was being drained with every encounter, with this person.
Looking back in hindsight, I had lowered my standards to even allow this person a free pass in to my life. When we are developing, boundaries. It can be a hard concept to understand , that we have a right, our personhood has a right to choose who is allowed in to our lives.
Anyway boundary work is another , topic and another blog, for perhaps another day.

Will I benefit from Art journaling?
You will be surprised, how many people say to me they are not creative, when I tell them I am an artist & designer. The truth is everybody has a measure of creativity. Have you , brought up an idea at work to solve a problem? Do you cook, bake?
creativity isn& #39;t confined, to the traditional route of drawing , but can express itself in many forms.
As far as the way& #39;s I self practice art journaling it is through , therapeutic art making, but also through visualisation, mood boards , & affirmations to name a few.
Do you practice, any of the above methods? What have you found useful , or what hasn& #39;t worked.
Let& #39;s start a conversation, and make self development, & wellness a priority.
