Do you wonder how your favourite online writers endlessly create great content?

How do they know what to write next?

How do they build a massive audience from scratch?

In the "Write the ship" program, @Nicolascole77 explained his approach. And I was blown away.

[THREAD] 👇
1/ Create content buckets corresponding to 3 audience profiles

• Content bucket 1: Niche audience
• Content bucket 2: General audience
• Content bucket 3: Industry audience
2/ Start with a Niche audience.

It may sound counter-intuitive, but it almost always makes sense to start with a specific audience in mind when starting from zero.

• "Gardening" is too broad.
• "Growing cactus plants in your balcony" is what you should write about
Keep 2 things in mind when choosing your niche.

• Is the audience size big enough to keep you motivated?

• Do you have enough expertise/ motivation to keep writing about it?

If you don't have the expertise - curate what you read/ learn.
3/ Adapt your content to a General audience

Your niche: Growing a cactus plant
Write about: How can gardening make you happier.

Broad topics that interest a wide audience:
• Money
• Relationships
• Personal development
• Success
• Health/ Wellness
• ...
4/ And your Industry audience

Create content for others in the same journey as you.

Your niche: Growing a cactus
Write about: How to turn growing cacti into a profitable business.

Topics that interest an industry audience:
• Tools
• Hard-earned Insights
• Trends
• ...
5/ Choose and create content endlessly from these 3 buckets using prompts like the following:

• How to
• Lessons learnt
• Mistakes
• Reasons
• Examples
• Arguments for/ against
• Embarrassing moments
• Why or Why not?
• ...
6/ Revisit engagement data periodically and adapt your content strategy.

Remember:

• Content from the Niche bucket ➡️ a steady audience.

• Content from the General bucket can go viral ➡️ Other exciting niches.

• Content from the Industry bucket ➡️ opportunities.
