MDZS characters as dimsum (点心)! I'm so hungry after making this thread lol enjoy the shitposting and the dimsum recommendations
Wei Wuxian as pan-fried dumplings (锅贴), also known as pot stickers. They're usually filled with meat and cabbage and pan fried on one side until crispy! Dip in vinegar/chili flakes for extra flavor when eating (I add soy sauce and minced garlic too)
Lan Wangji as wontons (云吞) because he's *ahem* wanton hehe - these are also filled with meat (usually a pork or shrimp filling) and can be boiled in soup or deep fried for some extra cronch
Lan Xichen as shuijiao (水饺) because it sounds like sleeping (睡觉), in CQL he closes his eyes a lot RIP 😂 these are kind of like pan fried dumplings, but folded differently and boiled in soup (can also be deep fried like wonton)
Lan Qiren as pan fried radish cake (萝卜糕) cause he's surprisingly spicy and fragrant! This is very good with chili sauce, I'm not sure how to describe it but it's like savory pudding that's steamed, sliced and then fried. I like the bits that are brown and caramelised!
Lan Sizhui/A-Yuan as tangyuan (汤圆) because he cute round, literally yuan (圆) :D if you haven't had this it's made of glutinous rice flour and can come in savory and sweet flavours, sort of similar to mochi (my favorite is black sesame filling in pandan sweet soup)
Lan Jingyi as barbecued pork bun (叉烧包), sweet fragrant spiced meat wrapped in a snowy white pastry reminds me of his outgoing, direct personality wrapped nicely in proper Lan robes hhh
Jin Guangyao/Meng Yao as osmanthus jelly (桂花糕) - fragrant, sweet, soft and golden! I like the floral scent, sometimes goji berries and longan are added
Jin Ling as salted egg yolk custard bun (流沙包) - it's tasty as fuck but if you bite into it wrong it explodes hhh it's savory and sweet and so good ahhhh
Jin Zixuan as shaomai (烧卖), the yellow wrapping the yummy meat and shrimp :D sometimes there's crab roe and mushrooms on top
Mo Xuanyu is shrimp dumplings (虾饺) cause the makeup he originally had = the snowy skin that wraps tasty fresh shrimp aaaa
Mianmian/Luo Qingyang is egg tarts! I fucking love egg tarts (sometimes I have four in one sitting alsdjdaldj), and I like both the cookie crust ones and the flaky crust ones
Ouyang Zizhen (my baby junior boy ahhhh) as lotus seed bun (莲蓉包), the filling is sweet and fragrant and kind of green? These are so tasty omg
Nie Mingjue as glutinous rice chicken (糯米鸡) fuuuuck this is so damn tasty and satisfying like Mr Beefy right here and the umami is through the roof cause of the flower mushroom (花菇) they put in, not to be mixed up with shiitake mushroom etc
Nie Huaisang is lotus leaf rice (荷叶饭), which is kind of different from glutinous rice chicken, iirc the rice and ingredients are slightly different and the lotus leaf adds a special fragrance to the rice hehe
Jiang Cheng as xiaolongbao (小笼包) ahhhh these are so tasty but you have to be careful when eating them otherwise the skin will break and spill all the tasty soup everywhere, or it will burn your mouth
Jiang Yanli as congee (粥), warm and comforting and versatile, I love that you can put almost anything in it (within reason) and it's very forgiving to make unless you burn it
Wen Ruohan is spare ribs (排骨), in dimsum these are steamed with douchi (beans?), sometimes garlic and chili (I said this is a WRH stan account and @/Peanut_Poppy said I should be a WRH sit account cause I can sit and think about him and I hate them so much aslkdklajdk)
Wen Zhuliu is phoenix claws (凤爪), chicken feet that's deep fried, boiled, and then steamed with douchi (I think this is fermented bean paste actually). Also! Since he's the Core-Melting Hand, my brain was just like hand...feet...yes... I am a simple person ok thanks
Wen Qing as red bean bun (豆沙包) because red and also red bean buns are classic and reliable and amazing, we stan a classy, competent queen
Wen Ning as steamed meatballs (山竹牛肉丸), but these meatballs are one kind of many dimsum meatballs - a strong king who I'd love to have fighting at my side any time
Xiao Xingchen as rice noodle rolls (猪肠粉) cause of his white robes hehe also rice noodle rolls usually wrap around filling, like how his blindfold wraps his eyes. I like them best either with shrimp or with soy sauce and sesame oil
Song Lan as tofu skin rolls (腐皮捲), deep fried just like him, the tofu skin wraps meat and sliced vegetables then you can dip it in mayo l̵i̵k̵e̵ ̵h̵o̵w̵ ̵S̵o̵n̵g̵ ̵L̵a̵n̵ ̵s̵t̵i̵c̵k̵s̵ ̵h̵i̵s̵ ̵d̵*̵*̵*̵ ̵i̵n̵ ̵X̵i̵a̵o̵ ̵X̵i̵n̵g̵c̵h̵e̵n̵
Xue Yang is niangao (年糕), also known as tikoy or tikoay in SEA, it's a really sweet really sticky dessert thing made of glutinous rice flour and sugar batter that is then steamed. You can eat it on its own, batter it and fry it, or steam it with some shaved coconut!
A-Qing is spring rolls! I love her, spring rolls speak for themselves and in this case they wrap meat and veggies and they're deep fried like the rest of the Yi City gang LOL and these can be dipped into sweet chili sauce (A-Qing spicy yo)
