Jesse. The revive. The comeback. Manc born 28-year-old Jesse Lingard has had hard times and most recently good times. Everyone thought he was ‘finished’ or ‘a one season wonder’ and he’s proved all his haters wrong. He’s not just ballin, he’s BALLIN out!
8 goals and 3 assists this season for the West Ham talisman in just 9 starts is another level. Lingard has had a rough patch at Man Utd where times had got very hard personally off the pitch which had stunted his performances on the pitch unfortunately.
His best season number wise under Jose Mourinho saw him score 8 goals, 5 assists in 33 games and within 9 games he’s only 2 assists from matching his tally. Jesse plays as an attacking midfielder who drifts off wide and likes to receive the ball
In channels and little pockets. His fantastic, tricky dribbling lets him get out of tight space and manoeuvre past players Lionel-esque. Lingz can pick out a pass very well and is amazing in transitions as we saw against Wolves. He’s nuts.
But the one standout attribute Jesse has is his mentality. The fact he takes the ball and can dribble it from the half way line is outstanding. He can take the game by the scruff of the neck which only the best of players can do. The mentality is also shown
By his drive to get out of the mental state he was in and show fight. Lingard has outshone everyone this second half of the season after registering more G/A and taking the premier league by storm. The new question is what should be his next move.
