I'll earn more than $500K freelancing this year, and 90% of that will be through AWS IQ.
There's a super clear path to >$200K/yr as a freelancer if you're:
1. US-based (AWS IQ req)
2. enthusiastic about AWS
3. comfortable (/good at) selling yourself to customers
That path is:

That path is:
1. Earn all 11 AWS certs
This will cost you ~$1500 in exam fees and prep materials.
Whether you believe in IT certs in the real world or not, on AWS IQ they're a cheat code. AWS certs are featured prominently on the service, and customers will choose you for this reason alone.

2. Apply to be an AWS IQ expert after your first achieved cert
There will be a link to apply on your certification benefits page.
The application can take some time to be processed, and you want to be ready to hit the ground running as soon as you've achieved all of the certs.

3. Watch the job requests actively
Once you have all of the certs, you'll spend your days watching the AWS IQ request board and reaching out to customers. I use the default messaging and have an ~80% hit rate on getting responses from customers after putting my name in the hat.

4. Create a calendar link for coordinating calls with customers
I use @savvycal_ and can't say enough good things about it. I created text shortcuts (MacOS thing) for quickly sending out my calendar link when a customer wants to discuss their needs over the phone.

5. Be responsive
Another key factor of success on the platform—and as a freelancer, generally—is being responsive.
Having the certs will get you in the door, but being a good communicator will win you long-term business with customers that respond to your initial outreach.

There's a lot more I could share about my process on AWS IQ, but anyone that follows the above will be well on their way.
Obviously, you need more than certs to succeed in solving real problems for customers on AWS; you'll need years of actual experience.

But, experience alone won't attract customer attention on AWS IQ. That's what the certs are for.
