"I'm too busy with the Seniors" excuse for adult players asked to help coach a juvenile team is in jeopardy.

With Juvenile teams back on the pitch shortly, and no sign of adult teams back in the very short term, isn't now a great time to get adult players to help coach.

Thread
1.) We have a small window to recruit some adult players to get involved in our juvenile teams as coaches (just coaching, no texting, no organising, no booking venues- the current mentors are needed for all that still).
Just turn up and coach.

Why would they do that??
2.) Because they have a void in their lives. Those with families and dependants might be happy with the break, but most would be delighted to get out of the house.
Social interaction, in a safe environment, helping the next generation of club players.

Who should they coach?
3.) Youth teams mostly. The exercises, games and activities that they do in their own sessions, are easily transferred to U12 and up age groups.
They might not have the skill set to introduce a new skill from scratch with younger ages.

What are the benefits for current coaches?
4.) They get an opportunity to plan, to learn from someone else, to see current adult level best practice (hopefully), increase the coaching pool and level of expertise with the group.
To foster strong links between the adult players of today and tomorrow.

How do we arrange it?
5.) Communication.

Communication between the adult and juvenile sections. Adult and juvenile committees, along with coaching officer need to have this discussion asap.

Will this only work whilst the adults are not allowed train themselves?
6.) Not if we plan.

Can the juvenile team train the same nights as the adult team, but 1 hour earlier. That way, the adult player doesn't need to give up another night of the week. He trains the team from 6.30-7.20, then joins his own session at 7.30pm.

Will it help??
7.) Each situation will be different but if we achieve the benefits as listed above, then why wouldn't it help.
A GAA club is not just about 1 team. It is about everybody, on the pitch and off. Anything to increase people's awareness of this, is a positive.
