THREAD: I’m one of those people who genuinely love their career. I love academia. I love being a professor. I love my research and I love that my research can actually make an impact on the way we work with youth.
I also love taking naps. I love spending time with my siblings. I love gisting with my friends. I love traveling (safely with a mask on 😷 and lysol wipes)
What makes life is the memories we share with our loved ones and people that will miss us when we are gone. We are trained to call those moments “the little things”. But what if I told you, those are BIG things that can determine your happiness and impact on the world?
So my friends, take the day off. Travel with your friends and family (safely and wear a mask). Tell that man or woman you love them. Go to brunch. Plan that date night. Take a nap. Take your kids to the park. Life is way too short to spend it slaving for a paycheck.
Work will always be there and if you die or ever leave, most employers will work on replacing you by the end of the week because work will and must go on whether you are there or not.
Be loyal to yourself first, then the mission, then the work
