It's wild how confused non-violence gets some people. Like they come out into the street to protest random, unaccountable, unjustifiable and limitless police violence but then say that the police want us to fight back because otherwise they couldn't justify their violence
on some level they refuse to believe that there is a genuine antagonism btwn people and the state, which expresses itself as a fantasy that the state wants to change but the police are a sort of test and we need to prove we are in fact good citizens despite the police tricks
a fantasy about an ultimately loving national family with an older sibling (the police) who is a little out of control but the parents need to be informed and made to recognize the error of his ways and bring him in line a bit
sorry but that nation state (like the family!) is a convenient and violent fiction used to make you accept and defend the sovereignty of your exploiter. It's scary to let go of the mechanisms and fantasies that helped you survive till now but its that or be unhappy forever
(it strikes me again how much this structure of non-violent appeal to the fundamental goodness of the state/sovereign/electorate, rather than a modern conception of change, is the feudal peasant strategy of appeal to the holy king to inform him of corruption and get relief)
(the feudal relation to the sovereign was one of parentage, except of course it was justified via god: god the father, jesus the son, sovereign the chosen of Jesus. Does capitalism develop the nuclear family as a way of making use of european feudal psychic structures?)
The state is never gonna love you, and if you spend your whole life trying to be the subject you think it asks you to be you will die sad, drained, exploited and alone. Life is much more beautiful then the state can imagine! And yours can be too!
Be free! Love yourself! Throw a rock at a line of riot police today! Live Laugh Love!
