Never had any HUGE sales.

But I did once make $8k with 5 phone calls and that was pretty nice.

Foreman calls, he's building an apartment complex.

The wood delivered is all too long for the walls.

He's not paying framers to run chop saws all day.
Phonecall #2)

Phoned a mill and quoted 2 full TRUCKS worth of wood (dude needs a lot of studs for an apartment building) cutting the 3 inches off each stud he needed.

They could do it for about $60/lift or about $2k for each truck.

They had room to do it today/tomorrow.
Phonecall #3)

Phoned a shipper to see if we could get two trucks to run from a bigger mill to the one that was going to custom-cut.

Would cost about $1k/truck. And they could do it tomorrow.
Phonecall #4)

Called Foreman back - 'let's get the lumber to you in a couple days, send your framers to another site, or send them home for the day'

He liked the idea and said his boss would too.

Having framers making $40/hr running chop saws is not a way to make money.

After talking to my boss a bit about pricing we call the foreman's boss, he's aware of everything.

We shoot our shot saying we can deliver the 2 trucks full of wood by *two days from now* for ~$60K.

Director guy is overjoyed.

Tells us to pull the trigger.
~ $45k worth of lumber
+ $6K worth of services
+ 5 Phone calls
= $60k.

It's amazing what can happen when you solve problems for people.
