how i get up to work out at 6 am

a thread from a former competitive dancer
i set a alarms 15 minutes apart. the first one is quieter than the others, it’s a gentle wake up so that i’m not jolted awake!

my first lets me know i have 15 minutes before i have to be up, i have no obligation to move yet, i can go back to sleep if i want, it’s just a warning!
after i’m up, i turn on my brightest lamp. nobody wants to go back to sleep with the lights blazing into their eyes.
next i grab my shoes and throw on a jacket; it’s bodega time!

i live for the caffeine rush, + it helps my workout and gives me a kick in the ass.
if i know it’s gonna be a higher intensity day, i go for a c4- they have amino acids which are good for ur muscles brain!

if it’s a chill day, i usually get a coffee!
next up we have some quick planning and journaling!

while i’m waiting for the caffeine to kick in, i sit and fill in my planner, draft out what i want to eat, and jot down a few thoughts in my journal.

oh! and i get music going that makes me feel good :)
once i feel that tingly feeling from the c4, i stretch a little, not too much, i need to go soon!
time to get dressed!! wear something you’re comfortable with! it doesn’t have to be fancy, the point is to feel good!

today i went with my favorite black leggings, a purple long sleeve tee, and a sweatshirt and sweatpants to keep my muscles warm on the way to the gym!
water? check.
did i pee? yep.
brushed my teeth? yeah.
deodorant? *sniff* yes.
gym bag? by the door!

and it’s time to leave, the whole way there i keep playing music that motivates me and keeps my mood up!
>motivation tips<

-set a goal for your workouts, ex
-to get stronger
-burn some cals
-gain muscle etc etc

-keep that goal in mind! put little sticky notes around to remind you!
-pick out your outfit the night before;
“i can’t wait to wear this” and “well i’ve already picked out my outfit...” are huge motivators for me.
-set an end goal, but also set lots of little ones! long term goals are overwhelming and sometimes we don’t feel like we’re getting anywhere, so make some short term ones too,
you’re more likely to chase that sense of accomplishment when your goal feels closer and more connected to the present as opposed to months from now.

-think about how good you’ll feel afterwards! that sore feeling is an acquired taste, but eventually you may grow to love it!
-set up some rewards for yourself for achieving those little goals

-remember!! it takes 21 days to establish a habit! keep going, it’ll eventually become easier!
-do some stretches, even if you don’t get out of bed, you can stay warm under the covers and still get your body moving a little! it might just be what you need to get that little push that says “hey! maybe i can do this!”
!!!!!!!!!and always remember to feel proud of yourself! you’ve accomplished something! you’re one step closer to that goal!!!!!!!!!!

if anyone has any more tips, feel free to dm me or drop them in the comments!

i love you, you’ve got this! *muah*
