the istanbul c0nvention, is a human rights treaty of the council of europe against violence against women and domestic violence which was opened for signature on 11 may 2011, in istanbul, tvrkey. on 12 march 2012, t//rkey became the first country to ratify the convention.
on 20 march 2021, the t/rkish pr3sident announced the country's withdrawal from the convention. the president said this as to why they decided to withdraw from the treaty. "the istanbul c0nvention, originally intended to promote women’s rights, was hijacked by a group of people +
+ attempting to normalize homosexuality – which is incompatible with t/rkey’s social and family values. hence, the decision to withdraw.". here is a link to the wiki page if u want to learn more https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Istanbul_Convention

around 400 women are killed every year. http://antisayac.com  is a digital monument for all women who lost their lives due to domestic violence. 111 women have been killed in 2021 so far and don't forget that these are just the reported ones.
dont stay silent because so many unbelievable stuff have been happening but i didn't see anyone other than tvrkish people talk abt these. YOU have to talk about these issues because in turkey criticizing the g0v can get you arrested. the t*rkish people you see talking abt these +
+ issues are taking risks. so please use your platform to spread awareness.
ok so now i will be talking about a recent issue. 12 nisan (april 12). some men decided that it was time for shits and giggles and started saying shit like "april 12 is rape day, get ready" or "i'll fuck anyone i see" and posted some disturbing stuff right before Ramadan.
some translations of the tweets that were posted https://twitter.com/kachistland/status/1381370168543219719?s=20
this was very disturbing because like i said earlier in the thread the country just withdrew from a treaty that protects women. so for men to start saying stuff like that in the middle of the night was totally unacceptable. people who did this said that this was "dark humor".
WHAT YOU CAN DO !

since petitions don't really work here there's nothing you can really do other than spread information or donate. here is a link from another thread https://twitter.com/icyeuIa/status/1356162952475402240?s=20
