There are 2 Harland & Wolff cranes.
My granda got a job there in the 60s because our surname gave him cover, he was found out & sacked. In the early 80s my uncle was contracted to pour cement there and the UVF ordered him out

Please develop better imagery to promote the North.
Sorry if this is uncomfortable but it’s very uncomfortable for me to see it sanitised as some beacon of brilliance about here.
To me there is little to celebrate when I look at them.
I’m just anticipating the tourism promo for the coming year after re opening.
Much as I appreciate the attempts to rehab of the cranes (I know the person who designed the logo for the east Belfast GAA team, it’s great) there’s been no acknowledgment the deep history of sectarianism & humiliation that was entrenched there in the museum or branding of them
It deserves an entire section in the museum. I can’t forget what happened two generations of my family there. Particularly my Granda, my uncle was able to get other work, my Granda couldn’t. He was such a huge, proud hardworking man who was so good with babies and missed his own
