A slight breeze blew her long hair towards Anton, so she gathered them over to her right shoulder before saying, “Hi! I am Matty! I do not know if you remember me, but we have met several times before.
Liz told me you would not mind dropping me off at my house since it is on your way home.” She stood there hunched over waiting for Anton to respond, but since there was also no objection, she was not sure if he even heard her and asked, “Please?”
Just then Tati shouted, giving them the all clear to head out. They both got into the car, Liz sat at the front passenger’s seat while Matty sat behind Anton.
She tapped his shoulder gently to get his attention without startling him, then said, “I know I am imposing on you, but I promise I will not make a habit of it.
My dad was to pick me up today, but something came up at his workplace, thus the change of plans.” She tapped his shoulder again before continuing to say, “Anton, I appreciate this and will make it up to you.
Promise.” She looked into the rearview mirror, but she could only see a small portion of his face and unable to gauge how he was feeling. She heard him let out his breath loudly after she finished speaking. Matty sighed back in response.
“Your sighs are making things very awkward right now for everyone, and that includes myself!” Liz’s shouted at the two, jolting them both to back to reality. “There is no issue. None. Why can’t you just tell her that, Anton?
Instead of staying quiet and shooing people away with your icy personality?” she said in an irritated tone before shifting her attention to her friend, “It is on the way Matty, so it is no big deal. You are not owing anything to anybody. Let alone Mr. Grumpy here.”
Anton finally spoke up, only to ask, “Who is Mr. Grumpy?”
