These are PT winners, GP T8ers, Hall of Famers, and all of them are, to Magic Esports' eyes, just as worth their time as any ladder player. They hope to see Joel's Leather Jackets again. As if WotC wasn't the source of these system decisions.

There's plenty of problems with this thread, but as a person who prefers to think about systems, think about how truly strange it is that these players, who they have literally spent time and money on advertising, are being treated as if they have no worth over replacement value.

Like, yes, there needs to be change at the top of a system, but 'at the top' implies that there's a middle and a bottom, and not just 'the top' and nothing. An undifferentiated mass of top 1200 in Mythic players.

How will these players form testing teams? How will they be recognized for consistent performance? We know how, because WotC doesn't have an organized play system to do it. It's going to be popularity contests and luck. Be popular, get recognized. Spike two MCs, get a shot.
