Genocide. A thread.
As an Aussie with Cambodian relatives who escaped the Khmer Rouge genocide in the 70s, it’s deeply disturbing to read that Irish photographer Matt Loughrey appears to have doctored images of the victims and put smiles on their faces. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-12/cambodia-condemns-vice-over-smiling-images-khmer-rouge-victims/100062172">https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021...

This erasure and manipulation of history and minimising of genocide is repulsive, unethical and irresponsible.

Whoever commissioned this piece at @VICE should be disciplined.
The photographer should cease the project, not be rehired, and publicly apologise.
It’s a disgrace.
