must defend c!tommy on the internet...

first things first, i've seen tommy get a lot of hate for his relationship with technoblade. in fact, i think thats one of the main reasons why people don't like him. lets make it clear that that relationship would have never work. tommy had just gotten out of logstedshire. (+)

this was one of the main reasons he seeked the help of technoblade -- he had nowhere else to go.

tommy still hadn't gotten over the things technoblade had done to him and his friends in the past, which can be shown by the way tommy reacted to technoblade getting the rocket (+)

launcher back. (for reference, he simply looked at it and said "you killed tubbo with this.") in addition to this, technoblade made it abundantly clear that he didn't care much for tommy at first. he stated this the day of the second festival, when he confessed to his plans (+)

to blow up l'manburg. he explained that he only started seeing tommy's value after tommy begun to grow more violent. this violent person was a person that tommy did not want to be. this was why tommy chose to fight with tubbo during the second festival. he wanted to change (+)

for the better, something that would not happen had he stayed with technoblade.

in addition to this, tommy gets a lot of hate for causing a lot of the conflict on the server. while i agree that he is not a golden character, he is not a main cause of the conflict. in the (+)

beginning, his three objectives were to keep his discs safe, keep his friends safe, and keep his home safe. and continuously, throughout the lore, these three things -- his friends, his home, and his discs -- were taken away from him. the way tommy is dictates the fact that (+)

he will fight for these three things. throughout the entirety of the server, he was defending the things and the people he cared about. and, sure, his loud and argumentative personality gets in the way of people recognizing this, but he truly is just trying to protect the (+)

things he cares about.

now i also think we should talk more about the discs. it isn't a suprise that smp enjoyers do not like c!tommy because of his attatchment to the discs. c!tommy haters have made it clear they think that the discs are annoying, wasteful, or just unimportant in general. (+)

the discs were a coping mechanism for tommy. after everything he had been through, the discs were the one thing that he knew he worked for -- he spent a long time getting them. he had fought for them and had gone through so much to keep them. they provided comfort to him and (+)

showed him that he could actually do something meaningful himself. taking this object away from anyone in general -- especially a child -- is unfair. tommy had every right to be upset about them being taken away.

and, yes, he has made mistakes. but the mistakes he had made DID have consequences, while not being comparable to the mistakes of the adults on the server. one big example of this is when tommy and ranboo burnt down george's summer home. not his main residence, his summer (+)

home. the damage was quickly repaired by george, but he had still faced major consequences for it. all the while, the other culprit did not have to deal with any consequences.

yes, tommy can be loud. he can be argumentative. but these are things that all children do. in the end, tommy is a kid. he is doing what he thinks is right and has experienced a lifetime of horror. the amount of hate his character gets is absurd and a bit unfair.
