Sunday story time with Tara: Tara goes to Sunday school.

My mom is catholic, and baptized both my brother and I as babies. When I was little, she decided to try me out in Sunday school, see if I liked it. We'd go with her on Sundays, threatened with our lives if we misbehaved.
So for a few weeks, after church I went to the meeting room where the kids went to Sunday school. I listened to the stories, and colored the pages they gave me, looked at the books they handed out. Apparently I also asked a lot of questions about these stories and books.
After I'd gone for about a month, the Sunday school teacher pulled my mom aside to talk to her. She told her that as much as they loved having us in church, that maybe Sunday school wasn't the place for me. I had too many questions about the readings, you see.
Basically, my mother was politely asked that I not be brought back to Sunday school, because I questioned everything, and she didn't have answers for my questions. It was obvious to my mom then and there, that I would not follow in her steps and practice catholicism.
The irony is, there's a whole lot my mom doesn't agree with in the catholic church, but her faith is important to her, and she'd hoped my brother and I would follow suit. But, she raised us to make our own choices, and do unto others as you would have done unto you. Tricky mom.
So after that, on Sundays mom would go to church, and we'd go to our grandparent's hotel with our dad, who would help our grandpa clean the bar. We would play pool, drink fountain pop, and pick up all the money that the strippers missed the night before.
You know, exactly like a five year old should be doing on a Sunday morning.
