Hi guys. Before I start this thread, I want to restate that I’m Jewish and I’ve identified this way my whole life. I want to talk about what’s been going on recently.

First, I want to appreciate the non-jewish people who have been raising awareness and speaking out about what’s happening. However, I do wanna make sure to state not to speak over Jewish voices and uplift them instead.

I’ve seen many tweets that use AJR’s Jewishness as the punchline for jokes or something similar. Let me just say that this is NOT acceptable and if you think it is, unfollow me.

There are several threads showing explanations and exactly what was said, so if you would like to see that, go look there. Just know that as a Jewish person, these tweets were extremely uncomfortable to look at.

But I will be completely honest and transparent. I do mention AJR’s Jewishness often. However, I do not try to make it a joke or punchline. It is so incredible and inspiring to me to see representation like that, so I do mention it a lot.

I simply feel so much pride that my favorite band is Jewish, and I mention it a lot because of that. I personally don’t have a lot of representation of this kind so it’s very special to me.

I know our community is stronger and better than this. We have to stand up to this lower levels of antisemitism because absolutely none is ok.
