A thread:

Women are vulnerable (physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually) and require the protection and leadership of men—as fathers, husbands, spiritual leaders, and bosses... or, generally speaking, authority figures.

1/
Vulnerable to whom?

Men.

Oh.

But bad men. Not their protective authority figures.

Oh.

[Woman experiences abuse by protective authority figure.]

“Help!”

2/
The woman misunderstood. The woman is misrepresenting the situation. The woman is lying. The woman had poor judgement and caused the abuse to happen to her. The woman is bitter/emotional/divisive. The woman wants to usurp or destroy man’s authority.

Oh.

3/
Bro Code comes before protecting women. The man’s ministry comes before protecting women. The man’s position and potential come before protecting women. The appearance and promotion of “protective male leadership” comes before protecting women.

Oh.

4/
But sometimes we’ll quietly make adjustments to pacify accusers, deflect critique, and cover our bases. You’ll notice that the accused man is no longer here.

Where is he?

In a position of authority somewhere else where the gossip won’t follow him.

Oh.

5/
Also, men have temptations that women will never understand.

What are those?

They are incapable of controlling themselves around women (especially broken, vulnerable women). And men in authority have so many pressures and responsibilities... it’s hard on them, you see?

6/
Oh. So vulnerable women and the stresses of authority are men’s weaknesses, but men are the only ones who can protect women and be in positions of leadership?

Right.

7/
So when you say “women need the protection and leadership of men” but you don’t mean that those very men won’t abuse them or that those men will risk anything to support an abused woman, what do “protection” and “leadership” mean?

8/
We’ll make sure women don’t try to usurp man’s authority, we’ll make sure they know how to act and what to think, we’ll blame them for our failures or call them Jezebels, and we’ll carry a gun in case we need to shoot someone.

Oh.
