I’ve had tequila so I’m going to rant.

Stop trashing @AndrewYang for rehoming his dog because of his kids’ allergy.

So many pets are surrendered or rescued because owners refused to admit they couldn’t provide them the best home. It is a HUGE problem for shelters and rescues.
Dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. are complex and intelligent mammals with mental health concerns just like our own.

If you have worries that you can’t be the best person to give your pet that amazing life it deserves, call a rescue nonprofit. They will respect you and help you.
And DO NOT EVER shame other people for giving up their pets if they realized they couldn’t be the best home. You are putting pets’ livelihoods at risk by stigmatizing this. Our furry friends deserve epic lives where they are loved.
My little Minerva spent two months this summer with big-screen Panther TV. Tons of light. Tasty creatures right out the window! She was so happy.

We got back to my basement apartment in NYC, she cried and her fur got dull and matted, and I knew she deserved better.
We’re still on the hunt for a permanent home, but this girl needs BIG windows and lots of light and all the catnip mice she could possibly chase.

I’m super privileged to be able to make up my mind about a good place to live to be a cat parent. Many people aren’t so lucky.
A pet is not just something you keep around as an Instagrammable accessory. Realizing that you can’t provide it with what it needs is a mature and kind decision, and there are thousands of amazing rescues that will listen to you and help you find your pet a loving new home.
I know NOTHING about dogs other than that I like to pet them, but if you have ANY questions about rehoming a cat, please do not hesitate to reach out. First name at first name hyphen last name dot com. I want your kitties to live their most fabulous lives.
