I just listened to a wonderful lecture with Elizabeth Lambourn on the medieval Indian Ocean world and there were some many beautiful images that I figured I'd track them down to share⬇️
1) "INCIDENT AT SEA:" A PAGE FROM THE SALIM ALBUM, Attributable to Miskin, India, Mughal,1580
2) "A sea serpent swallows the royal fleet" now at the Aga Khan. Bijapur, Deccan, India 1670. More info: https://agakhanmuseum.org/collection/artifact/sea-serpent-swallows-royal-fleet-akm167
The wily Abu Zayd asking to be taken aboard a boat in Oman from the Maqamat al-Hariri, 13th century.

This is also a more accurate image of ships at the time as opposed to some of the more fanciful ones
Two very different depictions of Noah's ark, both clearly influenced by local settings. The first from Iran (1314, The Jami‘ al-Tawarikh of Rashid al-Din) and the second later one from Mughal India (1600)
Finally my favorite, another Mughal depiction of Noah's ark (and yes, admittedly because I was won over by the ship's cat). But the details are incredible. You can go here to learn more and zoom in yourself: https://asia.si.edu/object/F1948.8/
