Churches that dismiss everything happening in society as “culture” w/ negative connotation are either lazy, hypocritical, or heretical:
1. It’s lazy if you haven’t tried to understand what’s going on in the communities around you to actually speak the gospel to those happenings

2. It’s hypocritical if you say you want to “reach the lost” but refuse to engage specifically with what goes on in people’s lives to actually speak the gospel into those circumstances
3. It’s heretical if you’re actually saying everything outside the walls of the church is wrong & you’ve got this special knowledge about God that you have to protect from “culture”.
That’s the road to Gnosticism and the early Church had major words for that.

In any of these cases, it’s just flat out unfaithful to the way of Jesus.
He engages with what happens in society.
He speaks good news of God’s rule & reign directly into life circumstances.
He heals bodies & He saves souls.
Like maybe read one of the Gospels or something.
