The problem we have with the "does this need to be said, by me, right now?" approach to examining one's own contributions to a conversation is that our brain's answer is almost universally "no" even if it shouldn't be
We hesitated tweeting this because it feels like empty discourse
And maybe it is! We can't tell! We have no idea if we're saying anything worthwhile because we don't have an alternative approach that serves a similar purpose.

People should think about what they say but some of us also have broken thoughts and it's hard.
Also, we should probably elaborate that often the "no" we feel is more accurately "nobody cares" so we just tune out our own voice entirely regardless of our thoughts.
Have we ever said anything that added positive value to a conversation? Statistically we must have, but if you ask us most days, we can't provide an example.
The point here, maybe, is that there's no universally applicable way to go about meaningful discussion, because all our brains evaluate the variables in their own way.
Anyway we're gonna stop now before we dig far enough that we end up deleting this thread lmao. Just food for thought.
