Since ramadan is coming up, it’s important to remember that some people who have struggled with an eating disorder can relapse into bad habits. Please be sure to check on your loved ones and make sure they’re getting enough nutrients during the month.
Disclaimer: in this thread I’m just going to educate you on the effects of eating disorders and how you could prevent yourself from relapsing during the month.
1: it’s important to remind yourself why you’re fasting in the first place. In order to prevent unwanted triggering thoughts, make an effort to regularly remind yourself of the religious reasonings behind fasting on this month
2: scheduling meal plans; for those who are in treatment plans for ED’s might have meal plans, if you’re working with a specialist, talk to them in order to work a meal plan that works during the month of Ramadan
For those without a specialist, make an effort to remind yourself to eat during iftar and after iftar until you have to fast again. Unfortunately it’s understandable that we tend to forget to eat enough during this month, or eat excessively.
If you’re struggling with not eating enough, learn to not vilify the idea of eating. Your body needs these nutrients to survive, if eating large quantities of food triggers negative thoughts, learn to space out your eating times until you have to fast again.
In other words, smaller meals with enough snacks in between. Do not limit yourself if your hungry, your body speaks to you telling you what it needs. Not providing enough nutrients can lead to chronic health problems

Another reminder is that eating disorders can impact everyone and anyone, these are some symptoms of someone that could potentially be facing an eating disorder
If you’re struggling with an eating disorder, it’s important to come to terms with your triggers, which is the first step to recovery, avoiding things that trigger negative thoughts and habits that reinforce the cycle. During this month (or any other month) take some time to heal
The more you understand the situations that bring negative thoughts and urges, the easier it is to heal from these triggers
During this time, learn to develop healthy coping mechanisms, talk therapy (reaching out to people) developing a hobby, identifying comfort items, journaling, etc. use the time to avoid social media & learn to work on yourself.
These disorders can heavily distort your perception of yourself. Learn to celebrate the good things about yourself. Replace thoughts of self loathing with self love, learn to take time out of your day to breathe and appreciate the small things in yourself
People with disordered eating tend to be in denial, here are some symptoms of relapsing. Be kind to yourself and acknowledge the problem
I’ve run out of things to add to this thread, i hope it was somewhat educational and I hope it helps. My DMs are open to anyone who needs help! I hope no one takes this in a negative way. Anyways Um have a good day pls don’t hate me
