using the object noun form of apart is weird cause it reminds of “another” but at lease that makes sense you can’t say “this is other x” or “an other x” but for apart you can easily say “x is part of y” or “x is a part of y”
this might mean i’m wrong for comparing the two cause another and other do share the same meaning but in this specific context you’re implying that x is separated from y when you use “apart” and that x is a part of a bigger thing (y) when using “a part”
the reason i thought it was the same is because people say them interchangeably. like the thing that caused this grammar crises is some saying “it’s apart of the problem” which i thought was correct grammar but it turned out to be wrong because...
A. you’re using 2 prepositions in a row
B. it’s kind of contradictory of the original meaning. the mistake is totally not a big deal apart and a part are quite similar it just confused cause i thought it wasn’t a mistake
this thread about grammar has multiple grammatical errors i love irony
