UN SDG GOAL 6: Ensure availability & sustainable management of water & sanitation for all
An estimated 800 children under age 5 die every day & more than 1/2 a million people each year die from diarrhea & disease caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and unsafe hygiene.

We must focus on ensuring clean water, sanitation, & hygiene (WASH) for every person, especially in vulnerable populations & hard-to-reach places. This work increasingly urgent, since clean water is essential for handwashing & disinfection to prevent spread of COVID-19.
An est. 2.2 billion people need access to safely managed drinking water, including 884 million without basic drinking water services. An est. 4.2 billion people need access to safely managed sanitation. An est. 3 billion people need access to basic handwashing facilities.
The UN’s goals are as follows:
