One last thought: Queer Millenials of a certain age, do you ever just marvel at how much LGBTQ+ culture/acceptance changed between when you were in school to when you were in your 20s?
Like, in middle school all I had was a VHS copy of But I’m a Cheerleader that I taped off TV one afternoon when my parents weren’t home, and lesbians in indie movies who had to die at the end, which I could only get at the library
At my prom I was one of only two out queers (s/o to Kat). Five years later I chaperoned a gay prom with 200+ teens. Went from old Ani DiFranco songs ripped off Limewire to now, where you can just be an openly gay pop star. It’s wild.
Teens SHOULD all watch But, I’m a Cheerleader tho. It’s really good.
