Man I'm on the fence about being able to "come out" as a furry.

On the one hand, if it wasn't for the fandom, I would have NEVER been able to fully express my gender identity and would have never known there were others like me.

On the other hand, this fandom is saturated with
straight, white, cis people who often overlook it shit on the margenalized or act like we aren't allowed to speak up. Or they do that "uwu I'm gonna call human rights politics and say how much I'm not into that rather than just keeping my mouth shut and contining to pretend to
be a dog on the internet."

I don't know how much I want those people to co-opt the term "coming out" and start using it when being a furry, especially for them, isn't NEARLY as dangerous and oppressive as being a furry for a margenalized person is. To them being a furry doesn't
hold the same weight.
