Autistic Paradoxes for me:
The paradox of my being Autistic is that I am never given help when I need it, but constantly offered it for things that I don’t.
The paradox of my being Autistic is never believing me when I say I have the answer, but not believing me when I say I don’t.
The paradox of my being Autistic is that I am social by nature, but excluded by being social.
The paradox of my being Autistic is that people assume I don’t have empathy, and that I actually have too much.
The paradox of my being Autistic is that no one trusts me when I’m telling the truth, but believes me when I am harmlessly lying (in social games).
The paradox of my being Autistic is that people think I can’t understand them, but they don’t understand me.
The paradox of my being Autistic is that it’s the thing I love most about me, but the thing that has made my life the hardest.
The paradox of my being Autistic is that my honesty and directness is thought of as rudeness, but I’m actually being polite by telling the truth.
The paradox about being Autistic is parents telling me I don’t understand their child, when I in many ways was their child.
The paradox about being Autistic is that I am thought to be defiant or oppositional, when I’ve just seen the harm the thing I’m opposing is doing.
The paradox about being Autistic is that I’m unemployed or inconsistent, when I often do the most work out of anyone for the brief periods I can.
The paradox about being Autistic is that I want to learn and contribute to knowledge, but the institutions for learning and knowledge aren’t accessible to me.
The paradox about being Autistic is that I find new situations and public appearances anxiety inducing, but I will speak out if the issue is important to override this.
The paradox about being Autistic is that I feel like an asset, but I’m made to be a burden.
The last paradox of being Autistic is that I am an ADHD person also, and these are the ultimate paradox in the same mind at the same time.
