dear black women, u do not have to be strong all the time. u can be dainty, elegant, soft, and beautiful like everyone else. u are allowed to walk confidently in your femininity; wear dresses, or don’t. do whatever u want to do. u are beautiful, magnificent and kind.
i wish i had seen myself portrayed as anything other than sassy and aggressive in the media growing up. i’m nineteen and i am now realizing that i am not strong. i’m so soft and legitimately cry at the drop of a hat. i’m soft spoken and always have been. and that’s so okay

black women are not one dimensional. we are not the women that society has decided to portray us as in the media. we come in a beautiful array of shades, and sizes.
we are not our stereotypes and those extremely inaccurate stereotypes will never define us. you are beautiful. u are magnificent. your melanin is radiant, vibrant and a beautiful part of who you are. wear your hair however you want to. dress up, dance around and be you.
