John Walker is the embodiment of white male entitlement and aggression, and Lemar Hoskins is every Black man who enables toxic white men for adjacency to power.

Sam Wilson is every Black person who has tried to believe that white folks will eventually do right by them.
Like a lot of Black folks, Sam is learning that being “one of the good ones” doesn’t guarantee your safety. Sam is also learning that even though “allies” might ultimately work for your cause, they will still try to tell you how to achieve your own liberation.
Bucky is every white ally who spends some time with Black people and suddenly thinks that they know better than black people.

Sara and the Dora Milaje represent every Black woman who has had to fight white supremacy and fight Black men invested in white supremacy...
...they are every Black woman who loves Black men who has had to watch Black men struggle and learn how the world works when we already done told them how the world works.

They are every Black woman who has invested in white allies and will hold them to their commitments.
Sarah and the Dora Milaje are the Black women who will fight Black men and drag them towards their own liberation kicking and screaming.

Sam and Sarah’s relationship is like the relationships we so often have with one another. Mutual love and respect but also frustration.
And just for the record...in terms of the ACTUAL plot...I need for Sam to listen to Bucky because Sam is entirely too optimistic and he’s gonna keep getting taken advantage of. But I’m sleep.
