Most Brit’s are royalist because they have been indoctrinated since birth to believe that the class system and aristocracy is a valid way to structure society, regardless of whatever feelings they have about meritocracy. We are subjects not citizens.

Once you understand that the Crown is an institution that goes beyond the Queen, it owns the very land we walk on we just have permission, then you realise that we serve them they don’t serve us. They have no ‘duty’ to us their ‘duty’ is to protect the Crown and it’s position.

If you are serious about ‘decolonising’ or whatever critiques you have about a system built on racism, imperialism and white supremacy then you would not be making any room for sympathetic views about the Crown. There can be no true freedom if we have a monarchy. That’s a fact.
