/10. The Allen v Farrow documentary lays bare the dangerous use of ‘parental alienation’ in child sex abuse cases. This is a thread about PA in family courts. In 98% of cases when father’s claimed PA family courts did not accept the child sexual abuse accusations as true.
/10 In this case, the Judge found, “Mr Allen’s resort to the stereotypical “woman scorned” defence (because she was angry Allen had sex with her daughter) is an injudicious attempt to divert attention from his failure to act as a responsible parent and adult”.
/10 Since Woody Allen’s high profile use of PA as a defence strategy in 1992, it has become widely publicised by the media and extensively used in family courts. It’s easier to blame a mother for being hysterical and angry than to blame a father for being an abuser.
/10 Women lose custody when they alleged child sexual abuse and physical abuse. “I reported abuse and lost my son” says one mother. The family courts not only haven’t been protective - they have been sending children to abuse.
/10 Every year custody courts require an estimated 58,000 children in the US to have unsurprised contact or live with a parent who’s been accused of abuse.
/10 After being put in the custody of their alleged abuser 88% of children reported new incidents of abuse. These children have severe mental health difficulties and are at increased risk of suicide.
/10 Dr Gardner the founder of parental alienation, said that “in 90% of cases it’s the mother who is the programmer and the father who is the victim of the campaign”. Gardner’s work isn’t reviewed by peers, he published it all himself.
/10 Dr Gardner continues, “Children are very suggestible and it’s easier for them to start off with suggestible ideas which develop into delusions. We are witnessing the third greatest wave of hysteria that we’ve ever seen in this country.”

Women hysterical?! Surely not...
/10 It’s a device for not believing people & a way to brand women as mentally unstable & a deliberate fabricator... here comes a book with an easy explaination for how we sort out whether this is true or false. It’s bogus, not science, says Professor EB Meyers.
/10 Studies found that only 2 to 9% of sexual abuse reports by children and adolescents to child welfare agencies were considered to be intentionally false. Despite this, the family court dismisses c.98% of allegations.
