Vendors here is a thread on how to get Social Media Influencers to tag your products or give you a shoutout without paying or paying in full.

I know a vendor who once sent Bobrisky a very beautiful Auto-Gele, Bobrisky wore it to a wedding, but never tagged her. Instead Bob actually came on IG live to say “this Gele is fine o, Shebi if the vendor had paid me, I would have tagged her” 😂. I could totally relate.
Owning a social Media Account with thousands or millions of followers is big business that can fetch one millions of Naira monthly. It won’t be realistic to expect someone like this to give you a shoutout just like that, you have to put in the work.
1. If they patronize you & pay in full, politely beg for a tag: if an influencer or celebrity patronizes your business, make sure you give them an excellent service and politely beg/ask for a tag if they love your product/services. Most will agree.
2. Give them a discount, then negotiate for a tag: people love being acknowledged, make the influencer know it’s a privilege they’re patronizing you. Give them a small discount as an acknowledgment of their status, then politely ask them to give you a tag or S/O when they post.
3. Give them the goods for free, then negotiate for a tag or shoutout: this method works best if the value of your product is worth much less than the charges of the influencer.
Finally, Influencers & celebrities have their own problems, so don’t assume anyone will randomly remember your brand & give you a tag or shoutout. Make an effort to ask & remind them. Also remember to always be polite, confident & friendly during the conversation.
Disclaimer: sometimes you’d get a Yes, sometimes a No. Keep shooting your shots though. Also if your business can afford to pay influencers, please respect yourself and pay them. Thanks 😁
