If I told a customer in the professional world that I would not commit to a schedule because of the many uncertainties I’d simply be fired. Ideally I’m enough of an expert I can give insight on the uncertainties. At a minimum I break it down into smaller milestones.
The whole “I’ll let you know as I go along with the rollout” is only acceptable if you’re giving a LOT more updates than Penfold here is.
A few times I& #39;ve had to break something down with an indicative timeline, and explain which particular uncertainties would modify it, by how much, etc.
