Hi @playgirlcuIt, I want to answer your “why” question abt hyping synchronized groups when you can’t see each members’ dance styles. I understand that it’s your “unpopular opinion” that became all over twt lol so I would answer you formally.
It took me too long to type this thread because I needed to do some research with regards to the importance of synchrony in performances lol. I wouldn’t want to answer you empty-handed. So I got 3 significant points that I hope would enlighten you.
1. Synchronization is one of the vital element of performances.

2. Synchronization actually represents a huge skill and great talent.

3. Synchronization does not mean the dancers and/or idols move are completely the same.
(1) Performance is an art and synchronization serves as the rhythm which makes it aesthetically pleasing to the audience (except for some, like you I guess?). The synchrony of performance tends to cause pupul dilation that makes the viewers appreciate its aesthetics +
A need in synchrony of performances allows the performers and audiences to judge if the performance is well-executed. Since synchronization serves as the rhythm, it aids in preventing unnecessary distractions to the viewers which may cause displease. +
With great synchronization, comes a great connection between the performers (idols and backup dancers). Synchrony is unison, unison is achieved through connection, and connection is needed in order to fully express and show the beauty of an art (i.e., choreography) +
If you doubt what I’m saying, ask performers or search it as well. Oh and, Synchronization/Unison is important even in scoring performances in competitions.
(2) Achieving a picture-perfect synchrony in performances is one of the hardest thing to do. So any group who does it without breaking a sweat screams SKILLS AND TALENTS. Performers need to have a good sense of rhythm and a musically inclined senses +
strong coordination and memory. Each choreography have these so-called counts/countings that must be perfectly precise together with the song’s rhythm (*screams in skills and talents* lol). Coordination of the body and the eyes are also needed in order to catch even the +
tiniest detail in perfecting a dance move or choreos. Strong memory is needed to avoid confusion and prevent missing the beat in executing the dance steps. Maybe these small facts help prove that synchronized groups desever thr HYPE they’re getting.
(3) With proper evaluation and observation, you would be able to see the different dance styles that each member have. Being synchronized does not mean the performers’ moves are exactly the same. It means that they move together in a given time, with the beat and music. +
Maybe, well just maybe, if you’ll look closely and watch the group “open-mindedly” you will be able to appreciate and see the dance styles you aim to be not visible in the performance. In evaluating a group of performers, you need to have a fair mind. No biases. +
And there you’ll see their different potentials and styles.

You may find synchronization boring and it may not be “everything” a performance needs but I hope the facts above was able to answer you and was able to help you understand why +
these groups (i wouldn’t assume what group you were pertaining to but i think ik too well lol) DESERVES TO BE HYPED AND OBSESSION (as u mentioned).

Hehe, love you sweetie.
