This turned out to be longer than I initially expected so here’s me trying to be as coherent as I can on how I feel about CTG 🤧 (mostly for myself bc I’d like to look back on this thread and reminisce over it some day 😂)
[SPOILERS AHEAD - but let’s me real, I’m probably the last person on here to watch it 😂]
okay- thoughts. FIRST OF ALL icb this show wasn’t on my radar in 2019 AT ALL??? And I would’ve missed it too had I not known about Seon Ho from SU 🥲 I’m just so blown away by the diverse range of characters in this drama bc I thought it’d just be like any other crime drama 😅
They’ve touched on so many important issues (albeit only briefly, which is completely understandable since there’s only so much you can cover in 16 eps) like autism, dementia, mental illness, sexual abuse, domestic violence- I honestly wasn’t expecting this at all.
The plot. For me, I felt like it started out kinda simple/straightforward in the beginning and I think that was why I wasn’t expecting to be bombarded by plot twist after plot twist at the second half of the show 💀. It was so good. Way too good.
As for the subway ghost, I don’t know how I feel about him tbh. I’m part of the mixed feelings gang on this one 😂 I don’t exactly feel bad for him- yes his backstory made me kinda sad but I still can’t find it in myself to pity him.
The only person I feel very sad for in this whole situation is his mum. I can’t imagine the heartbreak she has gone through- having to deal with the grief of losing her grandchild and then having to witness her son slowly losing himself.
Being sandwiched in between the dilemma of wanting to protect her child and wanting to turn him in. Caretaker ahjumma really made me cry a lot eventho I’d been sus about her from the first time she saw the CCTV footage from jiseok’s phone.
Geunyoung’s performance here? TOP NOTCH 💯🙌🏼 I really applaud her for being able to portray two very different characters, she did it extremely well.
Ryung’s character might’ve irritated me a bit in the first couple of eps but I couldn’t love her more at the end. Seeing how the victims were so thankful towards her always made me tear up.
Of course, last but not least. Kim Seon Ho as Ko Jiseok 😭 He really portrayed this character so well. I laughed and cried with him, felt his heart flutter and his heart break together with him 🥲
I have so many more things to say but that would make this thread way too long so I’ll just say one thing- if jipyeong is halmeoni’s good boy THEN JISEOK IS OUR BEST BOY 😭😭😭
He has said so many things throughout this drama that really comforted me 🥺 the strangest thing is, in those moments, jiseok reminded me of you guys 😭
I think I finally know why this community always feels like a warm hug, y’all really did learn from the best boy, didn’t you? I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH I hadn’t expected a crime drama to make me feel so many emotions but it did 😭💚 CTG truly is an underrated gem.
