It's sad how people are invalidating the struggles of those with mental health issues because of their "bad/rude behavior" during the time of their struggle.
They say it shouldn't be an excuse, that it shouldn't justify their actions... but THEY. ARE. STRUGGLING. That's why they need help to process those struggles.
I almost lost a good friend before because I didn't know how to respond to her episodes. I thought "I have struggles of my own too, why can't she treat me better?" BUT realized later on that her struggles are just real as mine. AND she was having a harder time handling it.
Yes, we can feel tired. Yes, we can feel offended. But at the end of the day, what they need is love, support, and compassion. Trivializing their struggles simply as "rude behavior" is not helpful.
Mental health issues ARE HEALTH ISSUES. They affect our behavior, our bodies, our relationships. THEY AFFECT OUR LIVES. Brushing them off simply as "attitude problem" is disrespect to those who are struggling daily.
