Watching Wonder Woman '84 and Cheetah is kicking the shit out of a rapist while Diana is having sex with a man who cannot give consent.
I....... don't think the movie's villain is who the movie thinks it is.
"Why can't I have this ONE THING, Steve?"
"I mean, sure, I'm super-strong, impossibly hot, immortal, super-fast, rich, good at everything without trying, speak 50 languages, and command multiple godly artifacts, but why can't I just have ONE THING?"
It's weird how the movie keeps vilifying Barbara for doing the exact same things Diana and Steve are doing, like attacking guards.
So.... is the message of the movie "People who are bullied are the REAL villains."
Honestly, the entire Max Lord plotline should have been it’s own movie. A conman gets he power to grant wishes but eventually learns it’ll destroy the one thing he values in life—that’s a cool movie idea.
But Wonder Woman felt out of place in the Max Lord movie.
Also, kind of character assassination in that the stone grants your wish but takes away what you value most, and we find out what Diana values most are her powers whereas Barbara values her human decency and empathy.
What noble thing do you wish for most, ironically feminist movie heroine?
"Oh, I wish for the one man I knew for a week like 70 years ago."
And what selfish, corrupt thing do you wish for, movie villain?
"I wish to stop being a victim."
