Be very wary of British news coverage on N.I. at the moment. I'm seeing pro-Republican Irish being described merely as 'nationalists' and the press has been blaming a Sinn Fein funeral, rather than the real issue, which a) Loyalists in a losing game, and b) the border.

See, originally, there was a plan to have the UK/EU customs border post-Brexit on land. Many people (especially those living near the border) said that was an incredibly bad idea. So, the plan is now to have the border on the Irish Sea between the British mainland and N.I. 2/5
So the Ulster Loyalists are kicking off.
The DUP (who are Ulster Loyalists) are trying to blame pro-Republic people for this.
It's bullshit. The British Loyalists *said* they were going to do it, and people who live in Eire and N.I. have been warning that shit was going down. 3/5
...and the press are saying "Oh, but the British loyalists feel *vulnerable*..."
Well, their people (DUP) have been in charge. Even in Eire, the rebranded former Blueshirts (look it up) Fine Gael and Fianna Fail formed a coalition to screw over Sinn Fein. 4/5
The situation is fucked. But the way this has been reported is also an absolute pile of dogshit, and every press outlet ought to be ashamed.
The surface issue? Brexit has led to uncertainty in that region. The deeper issue? That would require a *much* longer thread.
