Forget love, hate, darkness, and light — the Star Wars prequels are about the separation of powers in representative republics.
I was trying to tell this to my kids, but they were like, “Whatever, Mom, we want to see Obi-Wan say ‘Hello, there.’”
Ugh, I can’t watch Order 66
MINA, looking at Anakin, to me: “He looks like your favorite Star Wars guy. Not General Hux, the other guy.”
Dammit, I teared up at the end. I hadn’t watched Revenge of the Sith in so long!
My space parents 😭
That was a little too intense for Mina. She was really upset about the kids at the Temple, Anakin, and Padmé. She’s having a slumber party in the living room with Mateo to help her feel better. I feel bad! She’s sensitive, and kids being killed at school is terrifying.
(BTW, the prequel trilogy is also about all the stuff I said to “forget” in the first tweet of this thread. I was being hyperbolic for effect. However, I do think the story is strongest when you recognize and understand the political power struggle.)
Just realized that when my kids see Samuel L. Jackson in other movies, they’ll think, “Hey, that’s Mace Windu!”
