A short #Thread on #COVID19 and #vaccination. There seem to be misconceptions about the vaccine. Please do share with family and friends who have not yet taken the jab. It is crucial that we all get vaccinated. Why? (1/n)
1. Taking the vaccine does not protect you against contracting Covid. But it performs a very important function. Post vaccination even if you catch Covid, your symptoms will be mild. Death can be avoided. Esp with the 2nd wave being more virulent, it's crucial to vaccinate. (2/n)
2. The numbers of Covid positive patients may look small & it may feel like authorities are panicking but hospital beds are overflowing. This is because the 2nd wave of Covid infections are more severe than the 1st. And remember how fast cases went up in the 1st wave? (3/n)
3. The 2nd wave of Covid is causing severe illness & deaths among younger people between 30-45 years of age. Many patients are going straight to the ICU and dying suddenly. Please don't take this lightly. Those above 45 years, please vaccinate immediately. (4/n)
4. Healthcare professionals are fighting really hard to save lives. It is better not to catch Covid at all. Work remotely if possible. Postpone birthday parties, weddings, other functions. Avoid crowds. Wear a mask always (no chin mask, cover nose). Wash hands with soap. (5/n)
5. Get vaccinated. You may feel feverish, have body pain/headache but the symptoms are just for one day. Don't believe rumours on YouTube/WhatsApp. All vaccines are safe. Take the jab. We have to protect ourselves & our families. Let's fight the virus together. (n/n)
6. One more point - those who have had Covid before too need to take the jab. There are many cases being reported of patients contracting Covid for the 2nd time. So please please take the vaccine. (ends/)
