The US FONOP against India does not just violate the principle of consistency it smacks of bullying. It is contrary to the US official conciliatory stance toward India.

If the US has problems with Indian maritime claims, there are many channels available to sort them out. Sending a destroyer into its territories is hardly a friendly gesture.

I am only hoping this is either the Navy working on its own established protocols, not having received new policy guidelines, or it is an intentional red herring for a larger operation to be followed later on.
