A few days ago I wrongly disparaged @dannyjpalmer. It's been weighing on me a great deal.

I want to apologize openly and without reservation. I was shooting for snark, but missed the mark.

I do hope the editor who wrote this headline and hasn't yet (at least to my knowledge) said anything about this now realizes, like I do, that words matter. That they've not yet come forward... allowing a reporter to wrongly take heat shows their character.
2/?
I do take ownership in how I responded. Again, I'm sorry.

Note though, that I do not apologize for defending the users who have been fired, demoted, or otherwise harmed by the "users are the problem" mentality. I do apologize for how I defended them. I allowed my zeal to get the better of me.

Were I able to go back in time, I'd change the tone. I cannot, I leave that thread up as an object lesson. That wasn't my best moment. I'm trying to own it and be better.

I hope those offended will forgive me, I hope those who've turned this into a blood sport get bent (you know who you are), and I thank those who gave me coaching to help me realize the harm/potential for harm I caused.

I want to be clear, the coaching is welcomed and appreciated... you played a part in this thread. Thank you.
