$SKLZ is one of the most hated stocks on Fintwit right now. Apparently this is a POS company and the market is going to take it down to $10, at least that's what the sentiment on Twitter would tell you. I'm not going to spend time rehashing the fundamentals on here since many...
have done that already but let's try a different approach. Let's take a trip down memory lane for some of the Fintwit favorites that have become stars and how their initial stocks performed. Let's focus on price action since that's what everyone is focused on $SKLZ for now.
I hope you enjoy this thread with charts from some of my favorite names today, feel free to comment under each ticker if you were in how you felt if you rode the drawdowns and what did you do, hope others can use this as reference of what CAN and USUALLY does happen.
First one up is $CRM. Rough start after IPO, down 44%, wonder, 1.5 years later down another 49%, wonder how many people thought $CRM was done for back then and how it's best to sell.
$CRWD Initial move up of 60%, then it spent about 3 months going down 57% from the highs! Ouch, you think many weren't freaking out being underwater from IPO price?
$NOW Great initial run of about 76%, then nearly came all the way down to IPO open with a 38.7% decline. Hmm, would you have been as confident holding this for long seeing your gains disappear?
$OKTA great move from the start, up 234% in 1.5 years, then a 45% quick pullback. Hope you held on because after that it went on another run.
$SHOP Great pop of 50%, only to be followed by a painful 56% decline. Wonder if the bears were loud during this period and claiming $SHOP would be done for?
$SPLK Mild returns of 24%, then brought below IPO price and down 34% from the highs, would you have held? If you didn't $SPLK would end up a nightmare given the run it's been on since.
$SQ Another one that had a mild pop of 31% then dropped hard by 47% in a short period, again, I'm sure lots of doubt was thrown around, only to see this stock bottom and rage higher for years and become a fintwit favorite for years.
$TEAM Ouch, 15% initial spike then down 46% in about 3 months, how many do you think took losses on this and sold out and never touched the stock again? I bet there are a lot of "should, woulda, coulda" stories from this period.
$TWLO 200% initial spike!! Then a brutal 67% decline!! Remember how this was a simple API company without any real IP that would crash, remember how AWS would eat their lunch? How Uber sourcing another vendor meant this company would die?
$WDAY 126% move over 1 year only to be met by a 55% drawdown in a few months bringing it back down to IPO levels. Would you have held? Would you added more? Would you have doubted the company?
$ZM 72% surge off followed by a 42% decline brining it back to IPO levels. What questions would you have had? Maybe Webex was too entrenched? Was this too easy to be copied by others?
$SKLZ Finally, here is where we are at now.

159% run with the the overall FOMO of Feb'21 and the NFL deal, and now down 64%. Time will tell what happens from here, but hope at least you make your choice more on the company potential than price action given previous IPOs stories.
