Here we go...

This is going to require a thread.

1. The Muppet Christmas Carol is good, but it’s not the gold standard muppets film or adaptation of A Christmas Carol people make it out to be. Michael Caine is nowhere near the best version of Ebenezer Scrooge there is. https://twitter.com/tisthepod/status/1381008834190266368
Conversely, Jim Carrey’s Scrooge is nowhere near the worst version there is.

2. It’s a Wonderful Life is not a Christmas movie. It’s a movie set at Christmas for about 20 minutes.
3. Jim Carrey’s/Ron Howard’s adaptation of the Grinch is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. It’s better than the 2018 animated adaptation.

4. The 1994 remake of Miracle on 34th Street is leagues and bounds better than the original 1947 version.
5. Kurt Russell is an amazing Santa in two crappy movies. People are lenient with both of these films because we haven’t had a huge, big budget, family Christmas movie in years. Same goes for Anna Kendrick in Noelle.
6. Love Actually is not a feel good Christmas film. I’ll never understand people who watch it to evoke the holiday spirit. It’s depressing and problematic.
7. David Huddleston is the best person to ever play Santa Claus while Angela Lansbury is the best person to have ever played Mrs. Claus. It’ll be years before anyone tops either performance.
8.A Charlie Brown Christmas, the original animated Grinch from the 60s,and the big four Rankin/Bass specials (Rudolph,Santa,Frosty,& the Year Without Santa)together are quintessential, mandatory Christmas viewing and-together-evoke more holiday feels than anything else on our list.
9. Ernest Saves Christmas is awful, and the whole Ernest franchise should never have existed.

10. Just because something mentions Christmas or has one scene set around Christmas, doesn’t make it a Christmas movie.
11. Despite being a horror movie, Krampus does more to evoke Christmas feelings, hammer home what Christmas is all about, and play on a beautiful holiday atmosphere than most of the movies on our list. It’s a modern day classic that deserves more love than it gets.
12. While every year anniversary of the show we go over our current, personal top 10 lists, it’s going to take something enormous to knock The Santa Clause, Elf, and Christmas Vacation from my personal top 3. Nothing comes close to touching them. They’re as close to perfect...
...as you can get for Christmas movies.

13. If TV merely showed the four Rankin/Bass specials, the original 60s animated Grinch, A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Santa Clause, Elf, Christmas Vacation, Home Alone 1 and 2, A Christmas Story, the 1994 version of Miracle on 34th...
...Street, Scrooged, and Krampus on a loop during the Christmas season, I’d be ecstatic. Nothing else comes close to comparing to them, as enjoyable as other films may be.
14. Out of all of the content Hallmark puts out every year, they’ve made only 5 good movies. Having said that, no one evokes Christmas atmosphere like Hallmark does.
15. Arthur Christmas gets worse with each viewing. It tries to pull off magic mixed with technology yet fails where Prep and Landing succeeded, and tries to do Christmas melancholy like Charlie Brown does and fails on every level.

End Thread.
