Here is Sunday's #Coronavirus thread, starting early to track South American developments and late news from Europe on the progress of #Covid19 cases.

The trend in Europe is now down, but in the Americas, both North & South, it's not good, while India is obliterating all records
At last I've just got data for #France and it's not great as the country passes 5 million infections.

43,284 new cases of #Covid19 which is up on the estimate for last week when FRA had database problems. The figure is also very slightly up on the Saturday two weeks ago.
Worse for #France is the state of ICU wards.
5,769 #Covid19 patients are now in critical care, that's up by a thousand in just 15 days and the highest since last April.

However the total number of Covid sufferers in hospital has fallen slightly for the second day in a row.
Thankfully tonight the data from #Norway are consistent

The country declares 481 new #Covid19 cases and that tallies with the total. So today a fall of 30% compared with this time last week.

#Bulgaria also sharply down with 1,352 new infections (-30%) and 43 deaths
Here's another worrying story which the main stream media seem to have missed so far.

#Bahrain is one of the 7 nations to have vaccinated half its population. But the country's infection rate's just reached an all time high. #Covid19 cases have doubled in a month.
In #Brazil the data may look lower, but for a Saturday it's bad.

#Chile's still in trouble too. A smaller increase in #covid19 cases today, but still higher than a week ago and the 3rd highest day ever with well over 8000 new infections. Yesterday saw an all time record 9,151 cases.

Even excluding BC, other states are down 10%
#USA's rise in #Covid19 cases continues.

Difficult to be exact as 11/50 states don't declare Saturday data immediately. However, already 66,780 new infections vs 70,344 the week before.
