Mafia players as The Wire characters - a thread (mild spoilers):
Louis - Jimmy McNulty.

The community’s main man. Liked by everyone and skilled at playing the good and bad cop/town and mafia leader. He was there at the very beginning and no doubt will be there at the very end. His alcoholism/insomnia may prove to be his downfall.
Holz - Omar Little.

Greatest vigilante of all time. Volatile, unpredictable, feared. A steadfast believer in justice/vengeance and will ruthlessly pursue both when he wants. Huge influence on the TL/streets. Will not give up his crown to the younger generation without a fight.
Sam - Avon Barksdale.

The OG kingpin. A force of nature with a pure, unfiltered love of the game. Doesn’t believe in any of that spreadsheet/macroeconomics nonsense. Had beef with Omar/Holz in earlier days but that has somewhat cooled. Coming to accept his reign is at its end.
PM - Stringer Bell.

The emotionless brain behind the operation. One of the all time greats, but never a true gangster/mafia specialist. His weapon is the calculator/spreadsheet. His downfall was getting preoccupied with legitimate business/skipping mafia for real life work.
OW - Lieutenant Daniels.

The man at the top of the pile. It is he who signs off on any operation/game. Some complain that he’s too cold and distanced when at work/modding, but nobody can deny he’s a steadfast professional who values the integrity of his work above all else.
IBRZ - Marlo Stanfield.

Nobody understands how his mind works, but nobody really wants to. Psychotic and cold-blooded. The community treated him like a son at first, but he wasn’t made to play the son. Has come of age and is now making a serious push for King of Baltimore/BOP.
Oliver - Slim Charles.

The safest pair of hands in the business. Likeable and understated. Not one to wear the crown, but the right hand man everyone wants in their GC/organisation. Will no doubt still be around when all the big dogs have fallen.
Harry - Tommy Carcetti.

Very smart and slippery-tongued. Gets off on law and order. Despite often fighting on the right side, there’s always something in the back of your mind telling you you can’t trust him. Loves heavy bureaucracy/modding more than real policing/playing.
Anton - Kima Greggs.

An incredibly sharp and shrewd town player/detective. Achieved tremendous things in a game populated by English first-language speakers/obnoxious men. Perhaps lacks the bastard in him/her to play the mafia big dog/bad cop.
Frank - Bubbles.

You always love to see this guy pop up on the TL/screen. Often hard to understand what he’s saying and you can never be confident that he isn’t on a lot of drugs. Completed his fairytale character arc with Simpsons MVP/coming out of the basement.
Dec - Maurice Levy.

A specialist in pure bastardry. At his best he’s an evil, manipulative schemer who can talk his allies out of trouble - and his enemies into it. Famous for being humiliated by Omar/Holz in season 2.
Bradley - Bunny Colvin.

His methods are unorthodox and that makes him the target of the establishment. But he is simply one step ahead of the rest, and his plans were beginning to work before the thick-skulled Rawls demoted him/Sam destroyed his confidence. The streets get him.
Taylor - Brother Mouzone.

Something of an irregular character, but nobody would dare cross him. In the brief times he’s returned to the game, he’s fucked the biggest players up and promptly disappeared again. Part-responsible for PM/Stringer’s downfall.
Jamie - Cutty.

A renowned presence on the TL/streets before many current players joined/the show began. Has now returned and still has tremendous ability but seems to be locked in an unending internal struggle as to whether the game is for him any more.
Haz - Chris Partlow.

Ice-cold, remorseless killer. Somehow never ever caught in the act. Gets the job done with total ease and leaves no trace. Despite a gruesomely high body count, it’s clear he’s a good guy with his own unique code. Please come back.
Cian - Roland Pryzbylewski.

A highly intelligent operator, but some say he’s too nice a guy to put in those ruthless high-level performances consistently. Had a coming of age moment when he punched Valchek / cucked Holz.
Tom - Proposition Joe.

One of mafia’s old guard, his influence on the TL/streets is invisible but strong, and he’s a crucial ally to have if you want a meaningful stake in the game. The glue of the connect/community. Hugely respected.
Mowlid - Bunk Moreland.

Been in the game for donkey’s years. Loud, crude, and irresponsible. Often doesn’t takes it seriously but could make tremendous breakthroughs when he could be bothered - which was rarely. In spite of all of his flaws, unavoidably likeable.
Osaid - Wee-Bey.

Always comes to mind when I think about the good old early years of the show/lockdown 1 mafia. Just a complete OG who at one point ruled the game alongside Sam/Avon. Are his deep-block/old-school methods outdated now though?
Mafuzzy - Lester Freamon.

All-round class bloke and great to have on your team. Was not taken seriously by anyone at first but he proved himself over time and is clearly an accomplished town player/detective.
Mafoo - The Greek.

A mysterious higher power with a chameleonic ability to blend in. His approach to business/his account is ’my name is not my name’. Not really in the game but has significant influence in his own way.
Seb - Kenard.

Psychopath. Here to disrupt. Has almost certainly set fire to a cat for fun. People are fooled by his seeming innocence and inexperience in the game but he is genuinely dangerous. Not afraid to put a bullet/nuke on a big dog.
Alex - Michael.

In many ways the figurehead of the next generation. Not afraid to look the big dogs in the eye and play them at their own game. Some call him the next Holz/Omar. Backed to go far.
Matt - Naymond.

A staple of the game already and always improving. Not really cut out for mafia factions/the corners - when push comes to shove he reverts to deep block/shies away from fights - but you sense he has a big career as a public servant/town player ahead.
Grill - Dukie.

Some said he had potential. Maybe so, but he never felt like he belonged here. Probably shooting up in the back of a trailer somewhere in the states.
