As an MS3 interested in #nsgy, something I've been reflecting on is pursuing my passion vs failure/not matching ever
Now, I rarely share my thoughts about such things since it feels unnecessary & waste of others time, but this feels different

I had a discussion w/ an administrator at school about not applying for a back up. They told me that this was a recipe for disaster, espy as a DO, saying that reapplying for #residency is only harder, w/ loans needing to be repaid/being in debt w/ no job. #MedTwitter🧵2/n
This is a reality I'm aware of. I've worked hard to get to where I want to be, tried to do the right things. What if it all falls flat? Can u just have a new dream? Force yourself to cultivate a passion even though you know it won't make you happy or fulfilled?

More than anything, I'm filled w/ self doubt that I can never be good enough for #nsgy, which tbh is a sucky feeling bc I know if I work hard, put in the time/effort, which I have been doing/continue to, that I can do this just bc I love it so much!

As I told my parents about this convo, we went through various specialties in medicine&for each I was able to articulate why it wasn't for me/give a counterpoint for what was missing in those fields, but I saw and could experience in #nsgy.

This ended with my parents telling me that you try your best and go from there. I appreciate the support I receive from my parents, but it's hard when they don't know much about how this residency thing works.

These are feelings a lot of MS3s can share. Self doubt sucks, espy at this pivotal pt in our careers. All we can do is support each other! I do believe life will play out the way it's meant to if we continue chasing our dreams. Giving up just isn't worth it. #MedTwitter 🧵7/n
If any fellow #nsgy applicants/MS3s ever want to talk about all this, my DMs are always open.
& to end this with a quote that keeps me going, remember "There is nowhere you can be that isn't where you are meant to be."
